Tusculum College senior forward Tramicka James and senior
defender Kourtney Kavic have been named to the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire Division II
All-Southeast Region Women's soccer team, the NSCAA announced
Tuesday.
James, a first-team selection, becomes the first player in program
history to earn NSCAA All-Region honors four times in a career,
while third-team honoree Kavic becomes the 32nd All-Region honoree
since Tusculum joined Division II for the 1999 season.
James finished her senior season with 11 goals and seven assists
for 29 points in 18 matches for the Pioneers, who finished 12-3-3
and advanced to the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference
semifinals.
The Wilson, N.C. native finished the season ranked third in the SAC
in goals, tied for third in assists and tied for second in points
to earn first-team All-Conference recognition. James' average of
1.61 points per match ranks her 32nd in the final NCAA Division II
rankings, while her five game-winning goals were tied for 19th
nationally. James also ranked 42nd in total points and 48th in
goals per game at 0.61.
James, who is also the only player in program history to earn
Daktronics All-Region status four times in a career, was a
first-team NSCAA All-Region selection in 2009 and 2010 and a
second-team honoree in 2011. Also a four-time All-SAC honoree, she
wrapped up her Pioneer career ranked third in school history with
54 goals, sixth with 23 assists and third with 131 points.
Kavic (Oakville, Ontario) is a first-time selection to the
All-Region team after starting all nine conference matches and
helping the Pioneers allow just 40 shots on goal in SAC play, the
second-lowest total in the league.
She helped the Pioneer defense record nine shutouts in 18 matches,
including a stretch in which Tusculum allowed just two goals in a
span of eight matches. As a team, the Pioneers ranked 37th in the
final Division II statistics in goals against average (0.79), 32nd
in shutout percentage (0.50) and 26th in winning percentage
(.750).
Kavic is a four-year starter who recorded 10 goals and 10 assists
in 74 career matches for the Pioneers, playing the last two years
on defense after spending her first two seasons up front.
Tusculum's 12 wins in 2012 mark the 15th time in the 16-year tenure
of head coach Mike Joy that the Pioneers have reached double
figures in victories. The Pioneers have had 18 NSCAA All-Region
honorees in that time span, including at least one first-team
selection in 10 different seasons.
