The Tusculum College Women's soccer team climbed into fourth
place in the Southeast Region in the latest National Soccer Coaches
Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Women's
regional rankings, through games of Sunday, September 30.
The Pioneers (8-1-1) are also listed among the teams receiving
votes in the national rankings after extending their unbeaten
streak to eight matches with wins over Brevard and Belmont Abbey
last week.
Tusculum shut out Brevard 6-0 Wednesday night in a South Atlantic
Conference match at Pioneer Field, and followed up with a 4-0
non-conference road win at Belmont Abbey on Saturday. The Pioneers
have won four straight matches and have allowed just five goals in
10 contests this season.
The top three teams remain unchanged in this week's rankings, with
Armstrong Atlantic (6-1-1) on top followed by Columbus State
(9-1-0) and SAC member Lenoir-Rhyne (7-1-0). Lander, which was tied
for fifth with Tusculum last week, is in sole possession of fifth
at 6-1-2, followed by North Georgia (8-2-0), which dropped from
fourth to sixth. Clayton State (7-3-0), UNC Pembroke (5-3-1),
Flagler (7-2-1) are in positions seven through nine, with a tie for
tenth between Catawba (6-4-0) and Lees-McRae (5-3-1).
