The match remained scoreless until the closing seconds of the 46th minute when Tanner took a through ball from Meade, and delivered a strike off the bar into the net for her 17th goal of the season to put Tusculum up 1-0. Catawba's Lena Suarez later evened the match in the 57th minute by putting away a loose ball in the box off a corner kick.
Both sides had numerous chances to win the match in the final minutes of regulation, as Tusculum finished the first 90 minutes of the match with a 13-12 edge in shots.
The Pioneers outshot the Catawba Indians 4-0 in extra time, notching the 2-1 victory on Tanner's SAC-leading 18th goal of the season in the 99th minute. After Catawba's keeper was unable to handle Meade's shot from distance, Tanner took possession of the rebound and tapped it into the back of the net for her fourth match-winner of the season.
Tusculum outshot Catawba 17-12 in the match as Tanner led the Pioneers with eight shots. Vanessa Fyffe played the full 99 minutes for the Pioneers in net, allowing one goal and making four saves. Lindsay Webster went the distance for Catawba in net as well, making six saves.
The Pioneers return to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 22 when they travel to Bristol, Tenn. for a match against King College at 5 p.m.
