INDIANAPOLIS - The Tusculum College women's soccer team is
once again listed among the nation's leaders in several team and
individual statistical categories in this week's edition of the
NCAA Division II women's soccer statistics announced NCAA officials
Tuesday.The Pioneers enter the eighth week of the season ranked eighth in the nation in scoring offense thanks to a three-match winning streak, averaging 3.21 goals per match through 14 matches this season.
Senior forwards Danielle Tanner and Kelly Barron are both listed among the top 30 players in the nation in points and goals. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Tanner begins the week ranked third in the nation with 38 points following her four goals and one assist last week. The 5-7 forward is also ranked 12th in points per match (2.71), 12th in goals per match (1.143), and tied for second in NCAA II with 16 goals.
Barron found the back of the net in each of TC's three matches last week, and has scored at least one goal in seven of her last eight matches to vault into the top 30 in goals per match, beginning the week tied for 13th in the nation with 13 goals. The Cincinnati, Ohio native is also ranked 25th in goals per match (.929), and tied for 23rd in points (28).
Freshman midfielder Michelle Meade is also ranked among the nation's leaders in assists with eight helpers this season, entering the week tied for 13th in that category.
The Pioneers return to the pitch on Saturday when they host Catawba College in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
