THREE PIONEERS NAMED TO ALL- REGION Women's SOCCER TEAM

MISSION, Kan. --- Three Tusculum College Women's soccer players have been named to the 2007 NSCAA/adidas® Division II All-Southeast Region Team announced College officials. Courtney Turner, Danielle Tanner and Nicole Ferris were all named to the All-Region First Team.

Turner was named to the NSCAA/adidas® NCAA Division II All-America Women's Soccer Third Team last month, becoming the third player in the program's history to earn Division II All-America distinction (Tara Henderson, Ashley Moreira). She was one of only six freshmen in the country named to the All-America squad.

Turner, a freshman from Coco Beach, Fla. finished second on the team in scoring with five goals and five assists for her 15 total points. She started in all 22 contests for the Pioneers, while recording a pair of match-winning goals. One of those tallies was the lone goal in Tusculum's 1-0 double-overtime win over Newberry. She was also named to the All-South Atlantic Conference First Team.

Tanner, a junior from Toronto, Ontario Canada, led the offense with 21 goals and five assists. She recorded eight match-winning goals. She recorded three goals against Armstrong Atlantic (Oct. 15) and two in the 5-0 victory over Mount Olive (Oct. 21). Tanner was also named to the All-South Atlantic Conference First Team.

Ferris, a junior from Lebanon, Ohio, was a top defender for the Pioneers who helped the team record six shutouts during the season. She was also named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV College Division Women's Soccer First Team. Ferris was named to the All-SAC First Team and was the 2007 SAC Scholar Athlete for Women's Soccer.

Tusculum finished the year with a 15-7 overall record, while advancing to the NCAA Division II Tournament Sweet 16. The Pioneers were making their third consecutive NCAA postseason appearance and fourth in the last five years. TC also recorded its 10th straight winning season under the tutelage of head coach Mike Joy.
