Anderson picks up 15-5 victory over Pioneers

ANDERSON, S.C. --- Anderson University picked up a 15-5 victory over Tusculum University in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse Saturday afternoon.

Sophia Santagata had three goals and two assists to lead the Trojans (8-1, 4-0 SAC), who outshot the Pioneers by a 37-17 margin. Alicia Cannon, Rayne Dobson and Jillian LaBelle had two goals apiece for Anderson, which forced Tusculum into 22 turnovers in the match.

Lucy Brewer and Paetyn Hoffmann each scored two goals for the Pioneers (3-8, 1-4 SAC), who also received a goal from Jessie Carolin-Vandenberg.

Anderson scored the first 10 goals of the match until Tusculum got on the board in the final three minutes of the first half on goals from Brewer and Carolin-Vandenberg.

Anderson led 12-2 early in the third quarter, and the teams exchanged the final six goals as Brewer and Hoffmann tallied in the third quarter and Hoffmann added her second of the day with 5:08 left in the fourth.

Zuza Stasiak led the Pioneers with three draw controls while Haylee Cureton had two ground balls and a caused turnovers for Tusculum. Cannon and Kathryn McCabe each had seven draw controls for Anderson, with McCabe also collecting four ground balls.

Emily White played all 60 minutes in goal for the Pioneers and made 13 saves, while Ava Drath had five saves in the first half and Kora Turner added two in the second half for the Trojans.

The Pioneers will return home to host Mars Hill on Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m. The Lions (3-6, 1-3 SAC) were idle on Saturday after a 15-10 win at Emory & Henry on Wednesday.
