Pioneers finish runner-up at McAmis Memorial Tournament

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's golf team finished runner-up at the 27th annual Agnes McAmis Memorial Tournament, which was held this week at the par-71, 5,843-yard Link Hills Country Club.

Emmanuel College posted a 297 team aggregate score on Tuesday to posted a two-day total of 604 and finish 15 shots ahead of the host Pioneers. The Lions were led by tournament medalist Mara Martinez, who finished with a five-over par 147 including a final round 72. She finished three strokes better than teammate Valeria Lopez De Haro.

Christian Brothers University and Young Harris College both finished with tournament totals of 632 to tie for third place. The University of Arkansas at Monticello finished fifth with 638, followed by Trevecca Nazarene University (651), King University (656), UVA Wise (681) and Shorter University (685).

De Haro and Young Harris' Lucy Wiegert tied for runner-up honors as both finished at 150. The duo of Cesilee Mokry (Christian Brothers) and Lucia Salinas (Emmnauel) finished with 151 scores to tie for fourth place to comprise the All-Tournament Team.

Tusculum junior Reagan Padilla was the top Pioneer in the tournament as she tied for sixth place with 75-77=152. Delfin Filiz tied forth eighth place with 73-80=153, freshman Maylei Hildenbrand shot 80-77=157 and is tied for 13th and Annabelle Mozingo shot 79-82=161 to tie for 21st. Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen tied for 27th with 87-78=165. Sophomore Lindy Carter, playing as an individual competitor, finished 49th with 97-90=187.

The Pioneers begin their preparations for next month's South Atlantic Conference Championship which will be held Apr. 6-8 at The Preserve at Verdae in Greenville, South Carolina.
