HARTWELL, Ga. --- Tusculum University junior Reagan Padilla carded a two-under par 74 and is tied for second place after the opening round of the 2025 Emmanuel Spring Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being hosted by Emmanuel University and held at the par-72, 5,810-yard Cateechee Ranch.
The Pioneers posted an opening day score of 316 and are fourth in the 12-team field.
Padilla is one shot behind first round leader Ashlyn Madden of Mississippi College who carded a 73 which included a birdie on the 18th hole. Padilla recorded three birdies, three bogeys, a double bogey and 11 pars.
Mississippi College has the team lead with 304 and leads by seven shots over William Carey (311). Emmanuel is third with 314, followed by Tusculum with 316, while Converse and Lenoir-Rhyne each shot 317 and are tied for fifth. Christian Brothers is seventh with 319, followed by Cumberland, Tenn. (325), Barton (327), Belmont Abbey (338), Young Harris (345) and Spartanburg Methodist (394).
Tusculum's Delfin Filiz shot a season-best 75 and is tied for fourth place in the chase for the individual medal. Filiz's round included four birdies, five bogeys, one double bogey and eight pars. Maylei Hildenbrand is tied for 17th place following her 78. Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen is 56th with 89 and Annabelle Mozingo is tied for 60th with a 92. Lindy Carter, playing as an individual competitor, shot 99 and is 69th.
The final round will be played on Tuesday morning.
