TRAVELERS REST, S.C. --- Tusculum University's Reagan Padilla finished fourth while the Pioneers placed fifth at the 2024 Cherokee Valley Spring Bash which was held this week at the par-72, 5,894-yard Cherokee Valley Country Club.

Padilla posted a final round 78 on Tuesday to card a 36-hole score of 158 and finish eight strokes behind tournament medalist Taylor Young of Shorter University.

TU finished in the top half of the tournament field as the Pioneers tallied 673 including a final day 337. Shorter won the event with a two-day score of 637 and finished 12 strokes better than tournament host and runner-up North Greenville (327-320=647). Belmont Abbey B was sixth with 683, followed by Young Harris (699), Emmanuel (707), North Greenville B (728) and Savannah State (751).

Padilla earns her seventh top-five performance of the season and gives her eight top-5 finishes for her young career which is already tied for the sixth-most in program history along with former Pioneers Jillian Corum (2009-2013) and Olivia Cunningham (2018-2022).

Tusculum's Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen shot her lowest round of the spring with Tuesday's 79 as she finished with 166 to tie for 16th place, which was also her best tournament finish of the year.

Lindsay Self tied for 28th place with 86-87=173, while Lindy Carter tied for 45th with her 100-93=193. TU senior Adrienne O'Brien, playing as an individual competitor, finished 37th with 87-93=180. Tusculum freshman Anna Ahonen attempted to play through an injury on the final day but had to withdraw with five holes remaining.

Tusculum wraps up its regular season schedule and prepares for the South Atlantic Conference Championship, which will begin this Sunday at the Country Club of Salisbury in North Carolina. This will be the first time in 25 years that the SAC Championship has been held in Salisbury. Tusculum captured the inaugural women's SAC championship event in 2000, which was also contested at the Country Club of Salisbury.
