Pioneers in seventh after day one of Converse Fall Invite

INMAN, S.C. --- The Tusculum University women's golf team is currently in seventh place after day one of the 2023 Converse Fall Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-72, 5,810-yard Woodfin Ridge Golf Club and hosted by Converse University.

The Pioneers opened with a 315 in Monday's first round and are currently 21-over par in their second round before play was suspended due to darkness. Play will resume at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start as the second round is concluded, followed by the final 18 holes of the event. Most players have 2-3 holes remaining to complete for their respective second rounds.

Catawba has the lead at +26, while Shorter and Coker are tied for second place with +31. Newberry is fourth with +33, followed by North Greenville (+38), West Florida (+43), Tusculum (+48), Converse (+51), Young Harris (+55), Belmont Abbey (+64), UNC Pembroke (+68), Emmanuel (+68), Mount Olive (+70), Belmont Abbey B (+92) and Spartanburg Methodist (+137).

Catawba's Chloe Crane and Taylor Young of Shorter share the lead at two-under par. Young completed her second round after carding a five-under par 67 to follow her first round 75 for a two-round score of 142.

Tusculum's Reagan Padilla is tied for seventh place with +6 for the tournament. She shot 74 to start the tournament and is +4 for her second round with one hole remaining. Tusculum's Anna Ahonen and Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen are tied for 32nd place with +15. Ahonen opened with an 88 but rebounded with a one-under par 71 for her second round which included five birdies, two bogeys, a double bogey and 10 pars.

Lindsay Self is 45th at +17 which includes and 81 and is +8 for her second 18 with two holes remaining. Adrienne O'Brien is 63rd with +23 which includes 83 for her opening 18 and is+12 for her second round.

Tusculum freshman Lindy Carter, playing as an individual competitor, recorded a hole-in-one in her collegiate debut on the 153-yard hole No. 5. She is at +46 and is currently in 79th place. Carter becomes the fourth player in program history to record a hole-in-one in competition.
