SALISBURY, N.C. --- Tusculum's Reagan Padilla posted a 36-hole total 150 and is in sixth place after day one of the 2023 Patsy Rendleman Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Catawba College and held at the Country Club of Salisbury.
The Pioneers shot a team total 630 on Monday including a 309 in the second round to move to fifth place in the team standings.
Lenoir-Rhyne has the 36-hole lead with 603, one shot ahead of Anderson (604) and 14 strokes clear of host Catawba (617). USC Beaufort is fourth with 621, followed by Tusculum, Mount Olive (636), Erskine (637), Emory & Henry (649), UVA Wise (652), UNC Pembroke (656) and Barton (709).
Padilla opened with a 79 but rebounded with a collegiate career-low 71 (even) for second round and is eight shots behind first day leader Ashleigh Mead of USC Beaufort. Padilla climbed 17 spots on the leaderboard for Monday's first 18 holes. Her 71 is also the 13th lowest round by a Pioneer.
Tusculum freshman Anna Ahonen is tied for ninth place with 77-75=152. TU senior Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen is tied for 29th place with 81-79=160, while Adrienne O'Brien shot 84-84=168 and is tied for 41st. Lindsay Self carded 86-86=172 and is 47th.
The final round will be contested on Tuesday.
