BRISTOL, Tenn. --- Reagan Padilla earned her first collegiate medal as the Tusculum sophomore won the 2023 King University Invitational individual title.
Padilla carded a two-day score of 148 including a final round 75 to win by two shots over runner-ups Julianna Go (King), Nicole Kramer (North Greenville) and Lucy Wiegert (Young Harris) who each finished with a 36-hole total of 150.
The Pioneers finished tied for fifth place with 634 including Tuesday's 320 score in the final round.
Converse had to hold off a final day charge, but the Valkyries led wire-to-wire with their team total of 621 and finished two shots clear of runner-up North Greenville. Host King posted the low score of the day with 303 as the Tornado finished third with 626. Emory & Henry was fourth with 631, while Tusculum and Belmont Abbey tied for fifth place with 634. Trevecca Nazarene was seventh with 641, followed by Barton (662), Young Harris (675) and Maryville (693).
Tusculum freshman Anna Ahonen posted a final round 79 to post a two-day total of 162 to tie for 25th place. Senior Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen and sophomore Lindsay Self also posted 36-hole scores of 162 to place 25th. Senior Adrienne O'Brien logged a 91-87=178 to finish 45th.
The Pioneers return to action next week (Oct. 2-3) as they travel to Salisbury, North Carolina for the Patsy Rendleman Invitational. The two-day tournament is hosted by Catawba College and held at the Country Club of Salisbury.
