MEMPHIS --- Tusculum University's Nilubol Panno has the first day lead of the 2023 CBU Buccaneer Spring Classic, which is being held at the Irene Golf and Country Club.
The Pioneers are in quest of repeating as team champions of this event as TU is locked in a tie for first with Union University as both sit at +54 with most golfers having 2-3 holes remaining on their second round before play was suspended due to darkness. Round two will resume at 9:30 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday with the final 18 holes immediately following.
Panno is +3 for the tournament with three holes remaining in her second round. She shot 75 for her opening round and is even par through 15 holes on her second 18. She is three shots ahead of Kallie Robertson of Union and is five strokes clear of TU teammate Reagan Padilla, who is in third place at +8. Padilla is +2 for her second round through 16.
Tusculum and Union have been battling it out all day as both carded team scores of 316 to open the tournament. Both are +26 for their respective second rounds with host Christian Brothers just two shots off the lead at +56. CBU B is fourth at +76. Rhodes College is fifth at +78 while Lincoln University is sixth at +92.
Tusculum's Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen is tied for 13th place through 33 holes for the tournament. She opened with an 80 and is +11 for her second round. Adrienne O'Brien is tied for 26th place with +24 including her 83 to start the day. Lindsay Self is 31st with +31 as she carded an 85 to begin Monday play.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held on the 5,952-yard, par-72 layout and hosted by Christian Brothers University.
