TU women open second half of season at Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate this week

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The 2021-22 women's golf season resumes this week as the Tusculum Pioneers head to Florida for the 2022 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being conducted on the 5,958-yard, par-72 Golf Club at South Hampton.

The Pioneers will be making their fifth appearance at this event as TU has finished fifth or better in three of the four tournaments including runner-up honors in 2018 in their inaugural event.

Tusculum finished in the top half of all four fall events including a team championship at the King Invitational.

Senior Hannah Brown leads the charge with her 77.5 scoring average. She finished in the top-20 on two occasions including a ninth-place showing at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate with a 76-74=150.

Sophomore Nilubol Panno is just off of Brown's pace with a 77.6 scoring average in her four tournaments in the fall.  She won medalist honors to open the season at the King Invitational with 76-75=151.

Senior Olivia Cunningham is third on the club with her 77.6 scoring average. She has finished in the top-20 twice including a fourth-place performance at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational and preceded that with her 13th-place outing at the King Invitational. She shot a season low 74-70=144 at the Rendleman. She lowered her career average to 78.70 which is the fifth-lowest stroke average in school history.

Sofie Lorentzen carded a 79.8 scoring average in her four fall tournaments. She tied for 13th place at the King Invitational and closed out the fall with a 28th place showing at the Flagler Fall Slam.

Braelyn Pippin rounds out the Tusculum starting five this week as he has an 80.2 scoring average in her three tournaments which including a seventh place outing at the King Invitational with 81-77=158.

This year's Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate field includes South Atlantic Conference members: Tusculum, Lincoln Memorial, Coker, Lenoir-Rhyne, Wingate, Limestone and Catawba.
