KINGSPORT, Tenn. --- Tusculum freshman Nilubol Panno made a 25-foot birdie putt on the third playoff hole to win the 2021 UVA Wise Invitational, held Monday at The Cattails at Meadowview. The Pioneers carded a score of 308 to win its second team title this spring.
Panno posted an even par round of 72 and was tied for the individual top spot with Boo Newsome of Pikeville as the duo played three playoff holes before Panno made the long putt to capture her first individual medal of her collegiate career.
Tusculum placed three golfers in the top-five as Olivia Cunningham shot 76 to finish fourth while teammate Jennifer Keim posted 78 to finish fifth.
The Pioneers defeated runner-up Milligan by 11 strokes as the Buffaloes shot 319. The Milligan B team finished third with 338, followed by Pikeville with 342 and host UVA Wise with 380.
Tusculum's Hannah Brown shot 82 to tie for ninth place, while Jacque Butler carded 86 and tie for 15th. Tusculum Meredith Barton, playing as an individual competitor, shot 91 to finish 21st, while Mackenzie Butler finished 28th with 98.
The Pioneers win their second tournament in the last three weeks as TU captured the Agnes McAmis Memorial last month at Graysburg Hills. Panno has shot par or lower in four of her last five competitive rounds.
Tusculum will prepare for next week's South Atlantic Conference Championship, which will be next Monday and Tuesday (Apr. 12-13) at Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell, Tennessee.
