SUNSET BEACH, N.C. --- Tusculum senior Sara Howard posted a two-day 79-78=157 to tie for 17th place at the 2013 Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. The 18-team, 36-hole tournament was held at the par-72, 5,810-yard Sea Trail Golf Resort.
The Pioneers posted a team score of 675 to finish in 14th place.
Howard records her second top-20 showing this year and the 17th of her career.
Freshman Taylor Lambertsen, playing as an individual competitor, carded her second straight round of 80 to shoot 160 for sole possession of 29th place.
Sophomore Kelly Horrell tied for 65th place with 80-94=174, while sophomore Calley Lawson and freshman Alex Valeri each posted 175 to tie for 67th place. Junior Alec Cunningham rounded out the TC scoring with 85-91=176 (T71st).
Nationally-ranked Saint Leo shot 609 to win the team title by 11 shots over runner-up Limestone (620). Wingate was third with 629, followed by Mount Olive (631), Erskine (633), UNC Pembroke (636), West Alabama (640), Barton (646), Lincoln Memorial (659), Pfeiffer (659), Coker (662), Catawba (663), Emmanuel (668), Tusculum, Belmont Abbey (675), Southern Wesleyan (690), Lenoir-Rhyne (691) and Mars Hill (701).
Tusculum returns to action next week (Oct. 14-15) as the Pioneers travel to Salisbury, N.C. for the Patsy Rendleman Invitational.
