SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum women's
golf team posted an opening round 315 to take the first day lead at
the 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship, being
held this week at the Sevierville Golf Club - Highlands Course.
Two-time All-SAC honoree Jillian Corum has the first round lead
individually as she posted a 74 and leads by one shot over Eline
Askeland of Newberry (75).
Tusculum leads the team competition by three strokes over Lincoln Memorial (318) and nine shots ahead of Newberry (324). Carson-Newman is fourth with 334, followed by Wingate (340), Catawba (349), Anderson (358), Mars Hill (387) and Brevard (413).
TC junior Sara Howard is sixth following her opening day 78, while SAC Player of the Year Emee Herbert is tied for ninth place with 79. Freshman Calley Lawson is tied for 15th place with 84, while sophomore Alec Cunningham is tied for 22nd with 87.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will continue on Monday with the second round on the par 72, 5,817-yard layout.
