Tusculum receiving votes in Golf World/WGCA Poll

NEW YORK --- The Tusculum College women's golf team is receiving votes in the latest Golf World/Women's Golf Coaches Association NCAA Division II Poll.

The Pioneers received four total votes and are one of four South Atlantic Conference teams mentioned.

Tusculum is also one of five programs listed that will be participating in the 16th annual Agnes McAmis Memorial, which will be held this Monday and Tuesday at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville. Also participating at this year's McAmis Memorial is Lander University, which is ranked 19th in the nation. Tusculum, Carson-Newman University, Lincoln Memorial University and King University are also receiving votes in the poll and will be playing at the McAmis Memorial.

Tusculum is the defending champion of the McAmis Memorial as the Pioneers shot a tournament record 593 at last year's event, winning by nine shots over runner-up LMU.

The Pioneers have finished third or better in five of their eight events, including a team title at the Tusculum Fall Classic in September, which was also held at Link Hills. TC finished runner-up at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational and recorded third place finishes at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, Flagler Fall Slam and the TSYS Collegiate Classic.

Tusculum sophomore Emee Herbert is pacing the way with her South Atlantic Conference-best 75.91 scoring average, which is also 20th in the nation. Herbert, the 2012 SAC Freshman of the Year, has recorded five top-20 performances this season, including three in the top-five finishes. She is fourth in the nation in par 5 scoring (4.86) according to Golfstat. She is also ranked 19th nationally in score vs. par (+3.91) and 20th in subpar strokes per round (2.33).

TC senior Jillian Corum is second on the team with her 78.7 scoring average and is the defending individual medalist of the McAmis Memorial. At last year's event, Corum carded a school record 70-71=141 (-3). The Knoxville, Tenn. native has finished in the top-20 in five of her eight tournaments this year, including her fifth career individual title at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate last fall.
