
ANDERSON, S.C. --- Jillian Corum and the Tusculum College women's golf team have the first round lead at the Anderson University Invitational. The Pioneers opened with 322 and have a six-shot lead over second place Pfeiffer University (328).
Corum shot 76 and holds a two shot lead in the individual competition over Lenoir-Rhyne's Katie Thackerson and Pfeiffer's Steph Peareth, who each fired 78. Tusculum senior Emily Palenkas is in fourth place with 79, while TC freshman Sarah Howard is tied for sixth with 81. Haley Rye is tied for 17th place with 86, while Aly Pugh posted an 87 and is tied for 20th place. Tusculum's Katie Doane, playing as an individual competitor, is tied for 15th place with 85.
Howard and Palenkas recorded three birdies each in their opening rounds on Monday.
Host Anderson is in third place with 338, followed by Lincoln Memorial (340), Lenoir-Rhyne (341), Erskine (354), Limestone (359), St. Andrews Presbyterian (363) and North Greenville (368).
The final round will be held Tuesday at the par 72, 5,812 yard Anderson Country Club.
