Tusculum releases 2010-2011 Women's Golf schedule

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team has released its 2010-2011 schedule announced head coach Bob Dibble. (Click for Schedule)

The Pioneers will be competing in 10 events this year, culminated by the South Atlantic Conference Championship in Conover, N.C.

Tusculum will open the season Sep. 13-14 at the Anderson Invitational in Anderson, S.C. Anderson is entering its first season as a member of the South Atlantic Conference. Tusculum finished runner-up at last year's event, led by now rising junior Katie Doane (Sevierville, Tenn.) who finished second in the individual competition.

The Pioneers will host the Tusculum Fall Classic on Sep. 27-28 at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville. Tusculum finished fifth at last year's TC Classic and won the inaugural event in 2006.

Tusculum hits the beach Oct. 4-5 at the Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate as the Pioneers look to improve upon last year's sixth place showing.

After a one-year hiatus, the Pioneers return to the Patsy Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, N.C. on Oct. 18-19 to wrap up the fall portion of the schedule.

In what has evolved into one of the premier Division II tournaments in the nation, the Pioneers will host the Tusculum/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, Feb. 5-6 at Kiawah Island, S.C.

Tusculum returns to the Palmetto State Feb. 14-15 for the Newberry Invitational at Hilton Head Island, followed by the Pinehurst Challenge in Pinehurst, N.C. on Mar. 21-22.

The annual Tusculum/Lincoln Memorial Match Play event will be played Mar. 26 at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn.

Tusculum returns home to host the 14th annual Agnes McAmis Memorial at Link Hills on April 4-5. Tusculum, a three-time champion of this event (1998, 1999, 2000), finished eighth in last year's tournament.

This year's South Atlantic Conference Championship will be conducted April 11-12 at the Rock Barn Golf Club & Resort in Conover, N.C.

The NCAA Division II Southeast/South Super Regional will be held in early May at a site to be determined. The NCAA II National Championship returns to The Meadows in Allendale, Mich, and will be played May 11-14.

The Pioneers return six letter-winners from last year, led by team most valuable player in rising sophomore Jillian Corum (Knoxville, Tenn.) and rising seniors Emily Palenkas (Maryville, Tenn.) and Adriana Vizcarrondo (Anaco, Venezuela). Veterans Doane, Aly Pugh (Harrisburg, Pa.) and Haley Rye (Cumberland City, Tenn.) return, along with newcomer Sara Howard (Knoxville, Tenn.).
