SALISBURY, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Mary Ann Vizcarrondo fired an opening round 75 and is tied for third place after day one action of the Patsy Rendleman Invitational, being held Monday and Tuesday at the Country Club of Salisbury. Tusculum shot 334 as a team and is in seventh place in the 12-team field.
Vizcarrondo is in a four-way tie for third and is six shots out of the lead.
Susanne Sisco shot 83 and is tied for 20th place, while Emily Palenkas and Mandy Hartsock each carded rounds of 88 and are both tied for 44th. Adriana Vizcarrondo rounds out the scoring for Tusculum with her round of 89 (T47th).
Pfeiffer University leads the team competition, led by Brittany Beltran's three-under par 69, which leads the tournament. Belmont Abbey is second with 320, followed by Newberry (323), Wingate (327) and host Catawba (330) to round out the top five. Queens University of Charlotte is sixth with 332, followed by Tusculum, Lincoln Memorial (336), Anderson (339), Lenoir-Rhyne (339), UNC Pembroke (347) and Presbyterian (363).
The final round will be played on Tuesday on the par 72, 5,983-yard course.
