
SMYRNA, Tenn. --- Tusculum University's Allison Robbins bowled a six-game series total of 1190 to finish 11th at the 2023 Intercollegiate Singles Championship Sectional Qualifier at the Smyrna Bowling Center on Friday.
Robbins, a sophomore from Flint, Michigan, averaged 198.3 for her six-game series (170-215-180-164-247-214) and came up 26 pins short of qualifying for nationals.
The top-five bowlers to advance to next month's nationals in Las Vegas are Rebecca Hagerman (McKendree), Maggie Thomas (Arkansas State), Maranda Pattison (McKendree), Mabel Cummins (Vanderbilt) and Alexis Ingersoll (Maryland-Eastern Shore). Ingersoll bowled a six-game series of 1,216 to claim the fifth and final spot.
Robbins posted a 19-spot improvement from last year's 30th place showing at the ISC Sectional.
Senior Alexa Tieto improved by 11 positions from last season with her 45th place finish. Tieto rolled a six-game series total of 1103 (154-171-195-215-168-200). Freshman Emilee Horton posted 993 (158-172-157-194-165-147) to place 107th. Savannah Price finished 138th with 145-136-142-129-187-157=896, 22 spots better than last year's performance at the sectional qualifier.
The Pioneers will return to Smyrna this weekend for the Columbia 300 Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt (Mar. 17-19).
