MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Tusculum University women's bowling team is in fourth place after day one of the 2022 ISTAP Hornet Classic. The three-day, eight-team tournament is being held at the AMF Bowlero and hosted by Alabama State University.

The Pioneers finished their five Baker matches with a total pinfall of 4,166. The host Lady Hornets lead the tournament with 4,496 pins, followed by UAB (4410), Alabama A&M (4177), Tusculum, Southern (4140), Jackson State (4118), Florida A&M (3926) and Grambling State (3408).

Tusculum went 3-2 on the day as the Pioneers opened with an 863-850 win over Jackson State. TU dropped consecutive games to Alabama A&M (810-766) and Alabama State (810-766). But the Pioneers bounced back with a pair of wins over Southern (937-833) and Florida A&M (789-758).

Tusculum (8-20) will play five traditional games on Saturday and will close out the tournament with Baker-Playoff matches on Sunday.
