DYER, Ind. --- The Tusculum University women's bowling team went 3-2 in its five matches on Saturday in day two action of the 2022 Valpo Classic. The two-day, 17-team tournament is being held at Stardust Bowl III and hosted by Valparaiso University.

Tusculum posted a pinfall of 4,490 to raise its tournament tally to 8,603 to move up to 11^th place in the team standings.

The Pioneers opened the day with back-to-back wins over Elmhurst and North Central. In TU's 812-718 victory over Elmhurst, Tusculum was paced by freshman Emilee Horton who bowled a 196 to lead the charge. TU downed North Central 921-813 as senior Alexa Tieto rolled in a 217 for the victory.

Tusculum dropped a narrow 936-913 decision to host Valparaiso with Horton being the top TU bowler with 224.

The Pioneers bounced back with a convincing 991-732 win over Dominican with Tieto bowling a 226 with Allison Robbins contributing 215 in the victory.

Tusculum was matched up with 15^th-ranked Maryville (Mo.) to close out Saturday play with the Saints coming away with a 955-853 win.

Tieto finished 19^th individually with her 952 total, while Horton placed 24^th with 940. Robbins finished 27^th with her 926 pinfall, followed by Shayna Long's 873 (38^th) and Savannah Price with 799 (53^rd).

Maryville continues to lead the tournament with their 9776 total, while Wisconsin-Whitewater is second with 9,379. Newman is third with 9636, followed by Lewis (9277), Marian (9231), Valparaiso (9093), Aurora (8987), Kentucky Wesleyan (8970), Alabama A&M (8637), Upper Iowa (8613), Tusculum (8603), Belmont Abbey (8564), Wright State (8211), North Central (8136), Elmhurst (7739), Carroll (7690) and Dominican (7668).

It will be a Conference Carolinas match-up to open Sunday's Championship Bracket as Tusculum (5-15) will open against Belmont Abbey. The winner of that contest will face the loser of the Alabama A&M / Upper Iowa Best-of-7 Baker Playoff. The TU / Belmont Abbey loser will take on the winner of the Wright State / North Central match.
