HARROGATE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's bowling team went a perfect 4-0 on Sunday to capture runner-up honors at the 2022 Railsplitter Classic. The three-day, five-team tournament was held at Hillcrest Lanes and hosted by Lincoln Memorial University.
The Pioneers bowled a Baker five-game total pinfall of 4,772, which gives TU a grand total of 13,904 for the weekend and finish second.
Tusculum opened the day with back-to-back wins over UAB (951-874) and Belmont Abbey (879-801) in the Pioneers opening games. Tusculum had a bye in the third game where the Pioneers bowled a 924 score.
The Pioneers rallied from a 37-pin deficit to knock off 22nd-ranked Lincoln Memorial 1064-963. TU was down 610-564 after three games, but came back with a 252 in the fourth game and a 248 in the fifth for TU's second win of the weekend over the host Railsplitters.
Tusculum completed the perfect Sunday with a 954-876 win over Mercyhurst to improve to 8-4 on the weekend and 33-16 on the season.
The Pioneers return to action at the end of the month for the 2022 Stallings Invitational (Feb. 25-27) in Greensboro, North Carolina and hosted by North Carolina A&T.
