VALLEY PARK, Mo. --- Tusculum University freshman Jordan Mundt bowled three 200-plus games on Saturday and is currently in sixth place in the individual standings during day two action of the Columbia 300 Saints Invite.
The three-day, 11-team tournament is being held at the Bowlero Lakeside and hosted by Maryville University – St. Louis. Saturday's matches were scored using the Traditional format.
The Pioneers (3-6) went 1-4 on Saturday in its matches as the Black & Orange faced off against three top-10 programs including top-ranked McKendree University to start the day.
Mundt, who is making her collegiate debut this weekend, has totaled 1,031 pins during the traditional round and has a 206.2 average in her five outings on Saturday. She is one of only seven players to average over 200 thus far.
No. 1 McKendree opened with a 1089-863 win over the Pioneers in the first contest of the morning. The Bearcats has three bowlers eclipse 200 pins led by Kayla Smith's 247. Abbygale Hunt led the Pioneers with her 217, while Mundt bowled a 213.
Tusculum's next outing was against fourth-ranked Nebraska as the Huskers bowled to a 965-848 victory. TU's Erin Burkart led the Pioneers with her 242 while Mundt finished with 193.
Kentucky Wesleyan College edged the Pioneers 844-816 in Saturday's third match as Tusculum's Alexa Tieto posted her best score of the day with her 210. Mundt posted a 199 score, while Burkart finished with 182.
The Pioneers notched its third win of the weekend with an 884-797 decision over Drury University. Mundt posted her best score of the day with 214 in the victory, while TU teammate Tacey Ballen recorded 201 for her best outing of the afternoon.
Tusculum closed out Saturday with a 907-843 loss to 10th-ranked Youngstown State University. Mundt bowled her third 200-plus game of the day with her 212 to lead the Pioneers. Tieto added a 183 in the TU effort.
Burkart (881 pins) is 28th individually as the sophomore has a 176.2 average, while Hunt (839 pins, 165.2 avg) and Ballen (793 pins, 158.6 avg) are 33rd and 34th respectively. Tieto is 36th individually with her 723 total pins (144.6 avg).
Tusculum will close out the traditional round on Sunday morning as the Pioneers face No. 23 Lincoln Memorial University before closing out the tournament with bracket play.
McKendree has the lead in the team standings with 9,790 pins, while Nebraska is second with 9,510. Host Maryville is third with 9,188, followed by Youngstown State (9171), Lincoln Memorial (9021), Lewis University (8986), Kentucky Wesleyan (8787), Drury (8734), Upper Iowa (8457), Tusculum (8392) and Quincy (8296) to round out the field.
