
ORLANDO, Fla. --- The Tusculum University women's bowling team is in eighth place after day one of the 2020 Wildcat Classic which is being held this weekend at the Boardwalk Bowl and hosted by Bethune-Cookman University.
The Pioneers went winless on the day in its five Baker-format matches, but still totaled 4,305 pins.
Tusculum opened the day against 19th-ranked Maryville University (Mo.) as the Saints won by a score of 952-857. TU faced off against its second nationally-ranked foe of the day in 21st ranked UAB who edged the Black & Orange by just 25 total pins, 885-860.
The Pioneers dropped an 856-810 decision to Daemen College and also against Medaille College by a tally of 938-909.
Tusculum took on its third nationally-ranked foe in 13th-ranked Sacred Heart University in a battle of the Pioneers. SHU came away with a 948-869 win to close out the match.
The Pioneers (35-46) will play five traditional matches on Saturday to set up Sunday's bracket play.
