GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University women's basketball will host its annual Play4Kay Game on Wednesday, Feb. 26 when the Pioneers welcome UVA Wise for a South Atlantic Conference contest, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
In conjunction with the Play4Kay initiative, fans are asked to wear pink to Wednesday's game to back the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, which is the premier non-profit organization dedicated to supporting innovative ways of fighting all cancers affecting women.
In addition, the Pioneer women's basketball team will be conducting a raffle for an official Wilson NCAA basketball that is pink in color and signed by the members of the 2024-25 Pioneers. Raffle tickets will be available for $5 apiece, with all proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
Tickets will be sold in the lobby until halftime of the men's game, when the winner will be selected and announced. Fans who are unable to attend but interested in purchasing raffle tickets can contact graduate assistant coach Jalen Hill by email at jhill@tusculum.edu.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was established in 2007, started by the vision of the late Kay Yow (1942-2009), who coached women's basketball at North Carolina State University from 1975 to 2009 and collected more than 700 victories. Yow won five ACC regular season championships and four ACC tournament titles at N.C. State, and is a member of both the Naismith Memorial and Women's Basketball Halls of Fame. Yow also won seven gold medals in international competition as both a head coach and assistant coach for the United States.
Since the fund's inception, more than $7 million has been awarded for scientific research and related programs focused on women's cancers and helping the underserved.
The Pioneers would like to thank Ballad Health Greeneville Community Hospital for their ongoing support of the program, particularly related to the Play4Kay Game and the recent We Back Pat Game.
