NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University sophomore center Ni'Kiah Chesterfield has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending November 17.
Chesterfield led the Pioneers to two victories last week, averaging 28.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Tusculum picked up victories over North Greenville by a 92-75 score on Wednesday and against USC Aiken 95-78 on Saturday.
Against North Greenville, Chesterfield led the Pioneers with a game-high 23 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots. In the win over USC Aiken, the Murfreesboro, Tennessee native made her first 13 shot attempts and scored a career-high 34 points to go along with seven rebounds. Chesterfield finished the game 15-for-16 from the floor, which is the second-best single-game shooting performance in program history and best in Division II this season.
Chesterfield leads the South Atlantic Conference and ranks 10th in Division II in scoring at 22.5 points per game, and is second in the conference and 11th in the nation in field-goal shooting at 69.2 percent. Chesterfield has scored in double figures in all four games and leads the team with six blocked shots.
The Pioneers (2-2) travel to nationally-ranked Carson-Newman (3-0, 1-0 SAC) for their conference opener on Wednesday, Nov. 20 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Holt Fieldhouse.
