Tham earns second straight TSWA Player of the Week award

NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University forward Jami Tham has been honored for the second consecutive week as the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the TSWA announced Wednesday.

Tham averaged 24.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in two Pioneer wins last week, while arning a pair of double-doubles to extend her streak of consecutive double-doubles to 10 in a row.

Tham had 18 points on 7-for-15 shooting and a game-high 16 rebounds in the Pioneers' 75-59 win over UVA Wise last Wednesday, then shot 13-for-14 from the field and scored a career-high 31 points to go along with 15 rebounds in an 80-68 victory at Mars Hill on Saturday. Tham's 92.9 shooting against Mars Hill was the second-best single-game percentage (minimum 10 FGM) in program history.

The 5-11 graduate student from Arlington, Virginia leads the South Atlantic Conference and ranks third in Division II in rebounding at 13.3 per game, and is fifth in the SAC in scoring at 18.3 points per contest. Tham is third in the SAC in field goal percentage at 62.9 percent (88-for-140) and leads all NCAA divisions in double-doubles with 11 in as many games. Tham's 44 career double-doubles are the most among active Division II players.

The Pioneers enter Wednesday's home game with Emory & Henry at 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the SAC, with an eight-game winning streak. Tusculum hosts Southern Wesleyan on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Pioneer Arena in a non-conference contest.
