Pioneers close regular season at LR Last Chance Meets

HICKORY, N.C. --- Members of the Tusculum University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Lenoir-Rhyne Last Chance Meets on Saturday and Sunday.

The Pioneers did not improve on any of their season-best times during the meets, and will await the final declarations for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship, which will be posted Monday afternoon. The field for nationals will be posted Tuesday afternoon, ahead of the meet which will be held May 22-24 in Pueblo, Colorado.

SATURDAY RECAP
The Pioneer women's 4x100 relay of juniors Kiera Taylor, Shanice Cox, Theresa Green-White and Jahzara Hart just missed their school record, running 45.00 seconds.

Hart had a time of 11.68 seconds in the 100 meters, followed by Cox at 12.03 seconds, Taylor at 12.07 seconds and Green-White at 12.28 seconds.

Freshman Kori Moore was ninth in the 100 meters at 13.08 seconds and ran 14.56 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.

In men's events, junior Isaiah Olson ran twice in the 100 meters, taking 10.45 in prelims and 10.40 in the finals.

SUNDAY RECAP
The women's 4x100 relay of Taylor, Cox, Green-White and Hart ran again on Sunday and was timed at 45.08 seconds.

Cox ran the 200 meters and was timed in 24.02 seconds, her third-best time of the season and eighth-best in program history. Moore also competed in the 100 hurdles on Sunday and was clocked in 14.08 seconds.

Olson again ran in the men's 100 meters and posted equal times of 10.40 seconds in both preliminaries and finals.

In the men's triple jump, senior Joshua Stephens had a mark of 14.84 meters (48 feet, 8 1/4 inches), which is his third-best distance of the season and seventh-best in program history.
