Pioneers start weekend at Electric City Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C. --- The Tusculum University men's and women's track and field teams competed on the first day of the Electric City Invitational at Anderson University on Friday.

Senior Joshua Stephens won the men's triple jump and senior Amber Hogan took third in the women's hammer throw to highlight the opening day of competition for the Pioneers.

Tusculum will resume action on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.

MEN'S RECAP
Stephens posted a career-best mark of 15.06 meters (49 feet, 5 inches) to win the triple jump, also moving him into third place on the program all-time list in the event.

In the javelin, sophomore Michael McGrath placed sixth at 50.06 meters (164 feet, 3 inches), sophomore Noah Girard was seventh at 49.99 meters (164 feet, 0 inches) and sophomore Dylan Horne took ninth at 46.73 meters (153 feet, 3 inches).

WOMEN'S RECAP
Hogan was third in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.83 meters (140 feet, 6 inches), and freshman Agustina Dittrich took 10th in the javelin at 25.16 meters (82 feet, 6 inches). Junior Jesica Mbhamali was seventh in the open mile run with a time of 5:31.87.

Sophomore Kieley Smith is fifth through four of the six events in the heptathlon with 2,383 points. Her best event was the 200 meters, where she amassed 757 points with a time of 26.46 seconds.
