INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Tusculum University junior Jahzara Hart finished ninth in the women's 60-meter dash on the opening day of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship on Thursday.

Competing in the second of three heats, Hart ran 7.44 seconds and placed third in her heat, but did not advance out of the field of 18 runners into Saturday's finals. Her time was tied for her third-fastest of the season.

Hart was the first Tusculum female to compete at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. In 2020, Nicole McMillen qualified in both the 3000 meters and 5000 meters but did not compete after the meet was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

On Friday, junior Theresa Green-White will participate in trials of the women's 60-meter hurdles, beginning at 4:15 p.m. The top two finishers in each of the three heats will advance to Saturday's final, along with the next two fastest times.
