Four wins for Pioneers at VMI Winter Relays

LEXINGTON, Va. --- The Tusculum University men's and women's indoor track and field team won four events at the VMI Winter Relays on Saturday.

Junior Isaiah Olson and junior Jahzara Hart swept the 60 meters for the second Saturday in a row, while junior Theresa Green-White won the women's 60 hurdles and broke her own school record for the second consecutive day. Olson added a second win as he finished first in the men's 200 meters.

The Pioneers will compete in the Liberty Open next Friday-Saturday, Feb. 7-8 in Lynchburg, Virginia.

MEN'S RECAP
Olson, who was the top seed in the 60 prelims on Friday, earned his second straight win in the event with a time of 6.84 seconds. Freshman Jonathan Harris placed seventh in 7.06 seconds. In the 200, Olson had a career-best time of 21.61 seconds to take first place, the eighth-fastest time in program history.

Senior Benit Kitapindu was the Pioneers' top finisher in the 400 meters at 54.44 seconds, while senior Xay Bogus ran 2:06.37 and took 16th place in the 800 meters.

WOMEN'S RECAP
Green-White broke her own school record in Friday's prelims in the 60 hurdles, then broke it again on Saturday with a winning time of 8.51 seconds which is fifth-fastest in Division II this season. Freshman Kori Moore ran 8.82 and took third place, while moving into the top 50 nationally in Division II.

Hart claimed her third win in four meets this season in the 60 meters with a time of 7.48 seconds, with Green-White taking fifth in 7.73 seconds and junior Kiera Taylor placing seventh in 7.76 seconds.

In the 400 meters, sophomore McKenzie Morton took fourth place in 58.81 seconds, with sophomore Alonda Shelton in fifth at 59.30 seconds. Junior Shanice Cox took 11th at 1:00.15, and grad student Tashianna Gray was 13th at 1:00.65.

Grad student Alayna Suitte was 18th in the 800 meters at 2:37.05, which moved her into 10th on the program performance list in the event. Senior Amber Hogan placed 13th in the weight throw and had the ninth-best mark in program history at 12.66 meters (41 feet, 6 1/2 inches).

The 4x400 relay of Gray, Shelton, Hart and Cox finished second with a time of 3:57.63, the seventh-fastest time in program history.
