Pioneers run at second day of Vanderbilt Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University indoor track and field team concluded competition at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility.

A total of 15 Pioneers competed on Saturday, with three top-10 performances and nine performances inside the top 20 against primarily Division I competition.

Tusculum will take part in the VMI Invitational on Friday and Saturday, January 24-25 at Lexington, Virginia, the first of two straight weeks that the Pioneers will be at VMI.

MEN'S RECAP
Junior Adrian Gumm continued his remarkable consistency at the Vanderbilt Invitational with an eighth-place finish in the shot put at 14.53 meters (47 feet, 8 inches). Gumm has competed at Vanderbilt three times and posted best marks of 14.54, 14.53 and 14.53 meters in those years.

Senior Joshua Stephens was 15th in the triple jump at 14.42 meters (47 feet, 3 3/4 inches), the seventh-best mark in program history. Grad student Dorian Craven equaled his career best and finished 20th overall in the 400 meters at 49.00 seconds.

In the 60 meters, junior Isaiah Olson was 14th at 6.92 seconds and freshman Jaylen Scott was 16th at 6.94 seconds. Olson's time is fifth on the program performance list with Scott seventh-best all-time.

WOMEN'S RECAP
Junior Jahzara Hart finished sixth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.52 seconds, after qualifying fifth with a prelim time of 7.51 seconds. Her times were the third and fourth-fastest in program history, behind her marks of 7.37 and 7.45 seconds set at the Commonwealth College Opener on Dec. 7.

Junior Theresa Green-White took 10th in the 60 hurdles at 8.70 seconds, the third-best mark in program history, while freshman Kori Moore was 17th in 8.84 seconds which is ninth-fastest in school history.

Grad student Tashianna Gray ran 58.79 seconds in the 400 meters and moved into fourth place on the program performance list, while sophomore Alonda Shelton is now 10th on the performance list with her mark of 1:00.47.

The Pioneers' 4x400 relay of Taylor, Shelton, Hart and junior Shanice Cox ran 3:55.21 for 19th overall and the third-fastest time in program history, while the B relay of freshman Qitarah Castlin, Moore, Gray and Green-White posted the eighth-fastest time in school history at 4:03.93.
