Six Pioneers earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced its Division II Indoor Track & Field All-Region honorees for the 2024 season.

Tusculum University received four individual and one relay honor from the USTFCCCA, which grants All-Region status to the top five individuals in each event from each region along with each member of the region's top three relay teams.

For the Pioneer men, grad student Zack Nelson and senior Dorian Craven were recognized in the 400 meters, along with the 4x400 relay team of Craven, Nelson, senior Marquel Pittman and junior Stephen Brewer. Sophomore Daryl Smith Jr. was also honored as All-Region in the triple jump after qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championship. Tusculum's women were also recognized in the 60-meter hurdles as sophomore Theresa Green-White received Top Region Performer honors.

Nelson (St. Johns, Fla.) received All-Region honors in the 400 meters for the third straight year after running 48.37 seconds at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 20 to rank fourth in the Southeast Region. Craven (Dallas, Texas) also earned All-Region in the 400 meters in the same event with a time of 49.00 seconds that was fifth-best in the region during the season.

Smith (Rockledge, Fla.) set a school record in the triple jump and had the second-best mark in the Southeast Region with a mark of 15.22 meters (49 feet, 11 1/4 inches) at Vanderbilt. Smith qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championship and finished 16th overall.

The 4x400 relay of Brewer (Winston-Salem, N.C.), Craven, Pittman (Tallahassee, Fla.) and Nelson received All-Region honors for the second straight year with a time of 3:17.06 at the VMI Invitational on Jan. 27. Brewer and Nelson each received All-Region status for the third straight season after Tusculum posted the second-best time in the region during the 2024 season.

Green-White (Stafford, Texas) earned All-Region for the second straight year in the 60 hurdles, earning the prestigious Top Region Performer honor by running 8.64 seconds to win gold at the South Atlantic Conference Championship. Green-White has the top 10 fastest times in the 60 hurdles in program history, with eight of those times coming during the 2024 season.
