
LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Tusculum University softball team stayed at No. 17 in this week's NFCA/GoRout DII Top 25 Coaches Poll with a 30-4 record.
The 2025 NFCA/Go Rout Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll is voted on by the NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll Committee. The committee consists of 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the NCAA's eight regions.
As a team, Tusculum is in the top 15 nationally in 13 statistical categories, including leading the county in stolen bases (107). The Pioneers are second in triple plays (1), fourth in hits (333), fifth in runs batted in (226), fifth in runs (261), fifth in steals per game (3.15), and fifth in win-loss percentage (.882). TU is also ranked in scoring (6th; 7.68), triples (9th; 17), doubles (10th; 62), RBI per game (10th; 6.65), batting average (12th; .352), and triples per game (15th; .50).
Individually, seven Pioneers are ranked in the top 15 across 11 categories, highlighted by a pair of Division II leaders: Danielle Jason with 36 stolen bases and Natalie Spaitis with five saves . Jason is also third in steals per game (1.06), seventh in runs (43), eights in hits (51), and 11th in runs per game (1.26). Brooke Smith fifth in runs (46) and runs per game (1.35), while sixth in hits (52) and 10th in steals (27). Gabi Nicholson ranks seventh in RBI (42), ahead of Sammy Jimenez in 12th with 38. Ellie Alvarez is also mentioned in the run category as she is eighth with 41 scored. In the circle, Megan Ackerman is sixth in both wins (14) and strikeout to walk ratio (10.00). She is also ninth in walks per seven innings (.61) and 13th in appearances (22).
Tusculum (30-4, 9-3 SAC) hosts nearby Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday (Mar. 26) for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
