Alloway named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for third straight year

AUSTIN, Texas --- Tusculum University's Anna Alloway has been named to the 2022 NCAA Division II Academic All-District 3 Softball first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Alloway, a graduate student from Louisville, Tennessee, earns Academic All-District laurels for a third consecutive year, becoming only the second Pioneer to garner this honor three times. She joins former TU outfielder Katie Brennan, who was a first team pick in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

The Academic All-District 3 Team is selected by members of CoSIDA representing colleges and universities in the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference.

Alloway advances to the Academic All-America® national ballot with the winners being announced later this summer. Alloway is a two-time Academic All-America® selection earning third team honors in 2020 and was a second team choice in 2021.

She earned her undergraduate degree in 2021 while majoring in elementary education (K-5). She finished her undergraduate studies with a 3.98 cumulative grade point average and graduated with summa cum laude honors. She currently has a perfect 4.00 GPA while pursuing her Master of Arts degree in education at Tusculum.

She is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List, President's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List. She is a member of Alpha Chi Honors Society and was a recipient of the Lettie Pate-Wyatt Scholarship, the Theresa Bailey-Mclntyre Memorial Scholarship and was named an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete. She is also a three-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

She started in 48 games in 2022 where she posted 52 hits including 13 doubles, one triple, five home runs and a team-best 34 RBI. She batted .338 while scoring 18 runs and was tied for the club-lead with three sacrifice flies while earning All-SAC second team honors as she split time in the outfield and at designated player.

During her 200-game career, she established new program bests with 30 home runs and 370 total bases. She finished her career listed in TU's top-10 in numerous statistical categories including: at-bats (637 – 3rd), runs (105 – T8th), hits (225 – 3rd), doubles (51 – 4th), RBI (139 – T5th), on-base percentage (.396 – 7th) and sacrifice flies (8 – T2nd).

The two-time All-SAC selection and 2021 D2CCA All-Southeast Region honoree led the Pioneers to 111 victories including three straight winning seasons. In 2021, Tusculum won the SAC Tournament title and earned the program its first NCAA Division II Tournament berth. She was named to the 2021 SAC All-Tournament Team and was also selected as the 2021 SAC Softball Scholar Athlete of the Year.
