
Tusculum College sophomore first baseman Kaytlin Stroinski has
been named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week in
softball for the week ending March 24, the conference office
announced Tuesday.
Stroinski was 6-for-11 (.545) with eight runs batted in and six
runs scored as the Pioneers went 4-0 last week to move into first
place in the SAC. In a doubleheader sweep of Lincoln Memorial on
Wednesday, she was 4-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs scored
and five runs batted in for the Pioneers in a 13-5 win in the
opener, then drew the game-winning walk in the bottom of the eighth
inning of a 9-8 win in the nightcap.
In Tusculum's sweep of Brevard on Saturday, the Howell, Mich.
native was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two runs batted in
for the Pioneers in a 12-4 win in game one, then handled 14 chances
without an error in a 2-0 shutout of the Tornados in game two.
Stroinski reached base at a .688 clip during the week, thanks to
two walks and three hit by pitches. She also handled 33 chances
without an error at first base and did not strike out in 16 plate
appearances.
The Pioneers (19-12, 7-1 SAC) play at Carson-Newman (21-11, 5-3
SAC) on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in a SAC doubleheader postponed from
Tuesday afternoon.
