
Tusculum College sophomore outfielder Katie Brennan has been
named to the Capital One Academic All-District Softball Team for
NCAA Division II, the College Sports Information Directors of
America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
Brennan, a native of Manassas, Va., has a 3.80 cumulative
grade-point average as a physical education and health &
wellness major. She advances with the other members of the
All-District 3 team to the national ballot, with the All-America
teams scheduled to be unveiled May 23.
Brennan started all 57 games for the Pioneers and batted .234 with
one home run and 19 runs batted in. She led the team and ranked
among the NCAA Division II leaders with six triples, and was third
on the Pioneers in runs batted in and fourth in hits (37). Her
first career home run was a two-out, two-run walkoff blast in a 4-3
win over Young Harris on Feb. 21.
Academically, Brennan is a member of the South Atlantic Conference
Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor
Roll, the Dean's List and the Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.
To be nominated for the Capital One Academic All-America program, a
student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at
least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at
his/her current institution.
District 3 is comprised of colleges and universities representing
the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach
Belt Conference.
