
INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College softball team is ranked among the nation's leaders in six individual and team categories in this week's edition of the NCAA Division II statistics, announced NCAA officials Wednesday.
Tusculum (14-20, 5-9 SAC) has won four of its last seven games in South Atlantic Conference play, including a pair of walk-off wins over Catawba College on Apr. 10.
The Pioneers enter the week ranked 20th in the nation in double plays per game, recording an average of 0.44 twin-killings per contest. Tusculum is also ranked 65th in fielding percentage with a .961 mark.
Four Pioneers are also ranked individually, led by sophomore Brittany Hunley, who enters the week ranked eighth in the nation in hit by pitch per game (0.31). Senior Holli Cadenhead is ranked 15th in the nation in walks allowed per seven innings (0.93) this week, while junior Taylor MacDonald is listed 33rd in sacrifice hits per game (0.31) and sophomore Phlyscia Powell is ranked 55th in triples with a trio of three-baggers.
Tusculum returns to the diamond on Wednesday when the Pioneers host Milligan College in a 5 p.m. doubleheader at Red Edmonds Field.
