
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- For the first time this season, Tusculum University men's volleyball sophomore Morgan Makovec has been named the Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (IVA) Offensive Player of the Week. This is the third weekly IVA honor of his career.
In two matches last week, the Virginia Beach, Virginia native totaled 22 kills on a .645 average. The middle blocker also added two service aces, seven digs, and eight total blocks. In the sweep of King, Makovec had seven kills on a .600 clip with two block assists. He had a career-high outing in the five-set comeback at Thomas More. Makovec tallied a collegiate-best 15 kills on a .667 rate, adding six blocks on defense.
On the season, Makovec is averaging just under two kills per set on a .475 hitting percentage. He has also recorded 27 aces, 52 digs, and team-leading 77 total blocks (17 solo, 60 assists).
Tusculum (13-11) has reset the program record for wins in a season. The Pioneers have their inaugural meeting with Catawba on Friday (Apr. 4) in Salisbury, North Carolina at 7 p.m.
