
LEXINGTON, Va. --- For the first time in the history of Tusculum men's volleyball, a player has earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Collegiate Player of the Week, courtesy of Deklan Wingo.
In the lone match of the week against Quincy, the senior outside hitter broke the program record for kills in a single match with 28. Wingo fired on a .510 hitting percentage, adding one assist, eight digs, and three total blocks in the 3-1 win over the Hawks.
On the season, Wingo is averaging 4.50 kills on a .346 clip with 1.33 digs and .50 blocks per set for Tusculum.
Nationally, Wingo is third in kills per set, fifth in attacks per set (8.92), and sixth in points per set (5.02).
Tusculum (2-5) is on the road for its next four matches, starting at North Greenville on Tuesday (Jan. 28) night.
