HARROGATE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team dropped the rematch at Lincoln Memorial on Saturday (Apr. 6).
The Pioneers (6-22, 1-5 IVA) fell to the Railsplitters (19-5, 6-0 IVA) by scores of 25-11, 25-15, 25-19.
Justin Sharfenaker led Lincoln Memorial with 10 kills on a .467 hitting percentage, just ahead of nine strikes by Griffin Wheatley. Kohl Kutsch tallied 30 assists, while Axel van Baars (2) and Eliel Salva Torres (1) recorded the service aces. Kutsch finished with a match-high six digs as Matthew Gentry was credited with four total blocks defensively.
Colby Landry notched nine kills on a .368 clip to head up the Tusculum offense. Deklan Wingo (8), Jaden Bramhall (4), Tristan Blake (2), Donovan Nye (1), and Morgan Makovec (1) rounded out the scoring. Blake dished out 23 assists and Wingo added a team-best four digs. At the net, Wingo was credited with a solo block, while four teammates participated in the two remaining rejections: Makovec, Bramhall, Blake, and Nye.
Lincoln Memorial hit .456 as a team with 40 kills and nine attack errors on 68 total attempts. Tusculum hit .092 with 25 kills, 18 errors, and 76 total attacks. The Railsplitters led the Pioneers in assists (38-25), service aces (3-0), digs (26-16), and total blocks (6-3).
Tusculum finishes out the regular season on Tuesday, April 9, against King. The Pioneers and Tornado are scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve.
