Crusaders take rematch over Pioneers

TIGERVILLE, S.C. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team dropped the second half its home-and-home series with North Greenville on Tuesday (Mar. 26) night.

The Pioneers (6-19) lost the rematch to the Crusaders (10-8) by scores of 25-27, 26-24, 19-25, 23-25.

Diego Rosich recorded 15 kills on a .344 hitting percentage to head up the North Greenville offense, followed closely by Michael de la Cruz (13) and Tom Curry (10). Jorge Riesgo distributed 44 assists, while both de la Cruz and Nicholas Rudge landed three service aces. Gregory Torres added 10 digs as Curry and de la Cruz combined for the lone NGU rejection.

Deklan Wingo (15), Colby Landry (13), and Adam Svendsen (12) all reached double figures in the kill column, with the former firing on a .448 clip. Joining the trio were Morgan Makovec (6), Donovan Nye (5), Taylor West (1), and Tristan Blake (1). As the setter, Blake dished out 46 assists and was responsible for the only Pioneer ace. Svendsen and Blake were credited with 15 and 10 digs, respectively. Makovec led the match with five total blocks, ahead of four block assists by Svendsen.

North Greenville hit .267 as a team with 54 kills and 18 attack errors on 135 total attempts. Tusculum hit .325 with 53 kills, 14 errors, and 120 total attacks. The Pioneers tallied more digs (52-45) and total blocks (9-1), while the Crusaders landed more service aces (7-1). The teams tied with 49 assists apiece.

Tusculum wraps up its 11-match road trip on Thursday (Mar. 28) at Emmanuel. First serve from Georgia is scheduled for 6 p.m.
