George Mason takes finale over Tusculum

FAIRFAX, Va. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team was felled in the second match up to No. 17 George Mason on Saturday (Mar. 23).

The Pioneers (6-18) dropped a second match to the Patriots (13-7) by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-22.

Omar Hoyos (15) and Jack Bolz (13) led the scoring once again for George Mason. Troy McDonald distributed 40 assists, while Bolz, Hayden Karpinski, and Robert Evangelista each landed a pair of service aces. Hoyos and Paul Wyszynski both tallied eight digs as Hoyos was also credited with three block assists.

Colby Landry accounted for a 10-kill, 10-dig double-double performance against the ranked Patriots. Adam Svendsen (7), Deklan Wingo (4), Tristan Blake (4), Jaden Bramhall (3), Morgan Makovec (2), and Joel Dubinsky (1) rounded out the scoring. Blake dished out an even 20 assists and was responsible for two TU aces. Wingo, Bramhall, and Svendsen each had a hand in two blocks.

George Mason hit .411 as a team with 47 kills and 10 attack errors on 90 total attempts. Tusculum hit .193 with 31 kills, 15 errors, and 83 total attacks. The Patriots led the match in assists (41-26), service aces (7-3), and digs (31-29), while the Pioneers were credited with more total blocks (6-5).

Tusculum winds down its lengthy road trip this week, traveling to North Greenville on Tuesday (Mar. 26). First serve between the Pioneers and Crusaders is scheduled for 7 p.m.
