BUFFALO, N.Y. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team dropped its Saturday (Mar. 9) match at D'Youville.
The Pioneers (4-13) fell in four sets to the Saints (8-6) by scores of 25-22, 16-25, 12-25, 18-25.
D'Youville was led by 14 kills from Ian De Wilde on a .429 hitting percentage. Randy Adorno distributed 29 assists, while four Saints tallied the service aces: De Wilde, Shaun Vattakuzhiyil, Kristian Smith, and Tymek Brzoza. Zachary Zian finished with a team-best seven digs. Both De Wilde and Brzoza were credited with five total blocks.
For Tusculum, Morgan Makovec finished with nine kills on a .471 clip. Both Deklan Wingo and Colby Landry recorded eight kills. Jaden Bramhall (6), Donovan Nye (4), Jabes de la Cruz (2), and Thiago Da Silva (1) rounded out the scoring. Da Silva dished out 23 assists, as Bramhall (2), Landry (2), and de la Cruz (1) tallied the aces. Wingo notched a match-high nine digs. Makovec and Blake collected a pair of blocks each.
D'Youville hit .375 as a team with 47 kills and 11 attack errors on 96 total attempts. Tusculum hit .124 with 38 kills, 25 errors, and 105 total attacks. The Saints led the match in assists (41-35), digs (38-32), and total blocks (9-5), while the Pioneers tallied more service aces (6-4).
Tusculum wraps up its trip up north at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Monday (Mar. 11) at 7 p.m.
