GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum men's volleyball team saw its winning streak come to an end of Tuesday (Feb. 20) night at the hands of Lincoln Memorial.
The Pioneers (3-9, 1-1 IVA) dropped their first Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (IVA) match of the season to the Railsplitters (9-3, 2-0 IVA) via scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-18.
Ethan Morgan tallied 12 kills on a .733 hitting percentage for Lincoln Memorial. Kohl Kutsch notched 39 assists, while both Johan Negron and Luigi Pacini landed a pair of service aces. Morgan also had a hand in three blocks.
For Tusculum, Deklan Wingo recorded 12 kills, followed by Morgan Makovec (5), Colby Landry (5), Donovan Nye (2), and Shane O'Neal (2). Makovec fired on a .625 hitting clip. Thiago Da Silva dished out 21 assists, while Landry tallied the lone Pioneer ace. Both Makovec and Landry were credited with three blocks.
Lincoln Memorial hit .429 as a team with 41 kills and 11 errors on 70 total attempts. Tusculum hit .130 with 26 kills, 17 errors, and 69 total attacks. The Railsplitters led the Pioneers in assists (40-25), service aces (6-1), and digs (17-16), while the teams tied with five blocks apiece.
Tusculum has a week off before its next match on Tuesday, February 27. The Pioneers will host Lees-McRae for a 7 p.m. first serve.
