HONOLULU, HAWAII --- The Tusculum men's volleyball team squared off against No. 3 Hawai'i on Sunday (Feb. 4) to wrap up the weekend series.
The Pioneers (1-8) were undone by the Rainbow Warriors (8-1) by scores of 25-15, 25-11, 25-7.
Keoni Thiim finished with a .722 hitting percentage for 14 kills for Hawai'i. Kevin Kauling dished out 21 assists, while Kurt Nusterer landed six service aces. Both Tread Rosenthal and Alakai Todd scooped up four digs apiece. Thiim also led the way with four blocks defensively.
Deklan Wingo tallied 10 kills on a .318 hitting clip, while Colby Landry, Noa Svendsen, and Thiago Da Silva rounded out the scoring with one strike apiece. Tristan Blake was responsible for 11 assists, as Landry landed both Pioneer aces. Landry and Taylor West tied for a team-best three digs. Wingo also had a hand in both blocks across the match.
Hawai'i hit .549 as a team with 35 kills and seven errors on 18 total attempts. Tusculum hit -.037 with 13 kills, 15 errors, and 54 total attacks. The Warriors led the Pioneers in assists (31-13), service aces (16-2), digs (20-9), and total blocks (8-2).
Tusculum will return home for five of the next six matches, starting with Emmanuel on Friday (Feb. 9). First serve between the Pioneers and Lions is scheduled for 5 p.m.
