#13 Ball State sweeps Tusculum in weekend finale

MUNCIE, Ind. --- The Tusculum men's volleyball team fell in the rematch to No. 13 Ball State on Saturday (Jan. 13) night.

The Pioneers (0-3) dropped its second consecutive match to the top-15 Cardinals (6-2) by scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-15.

Both Nathan Goh and Trevor Phillips notched 12 kills apiece, while hitting .667 and .409, respectively. Griffin Satterfield distributed 32 assists and added six digs as Braydon Savitski-Lynde landed half of the Cardinals' service aces. Will Patterson was credited with four total blocks (one solo, three assists).

Fourteen (14) players saw action for Tusculum in the loss, with only Deklan Wingo, Jaden Bramhall, Colby Landry, and Thiago Da Silva playing in all three sets. Jabes de la Cruz and Landry tallied a team-best four kills. Wingo and Adam Svendsen added a trio, joined by Kevin Blankenship (2), Bramhall (2), Morgan Makovec (1), Donovan Nye (1), Da Silva (1), and Shane O'Neal (1) in the scoring column. Da Silva was tapped for his first career start, dishing out 20 assists as the setter. Blankenship and Wingo finished with five and four digs to head up the Pioneer defense, respectively. Six players had a hand in one block: de la Cruz, Wingo, Makovec, Blankenship, Bramhall, and Landry.

Ball State hit .359 as a team with 40 kills and 12 errors on 78 total attempts. Tusculum hit .057 with 22 kills, 18 errors, and 70 total attacks. The Cardinals led the Pioneers in assists (37-22), service aces (8-0), digs (25-23), and total blocks (6-4).

Tusculum stays on the road for a Tuesday (Jan. 16) night rematch at Erskine. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
